Description

Black Field Crickets

Black Field Crickets are a hardy, nutrient-rich livefood option for a wide range of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. They are especially popular with keepers who want a more robust feeder insect that performs well in cooler weather and higher-humidity setups.

Why Choose Black Crickets?

  • Excellent in cooler conditions – often better suited to UK homes and colder months than some other cricket species.
  • Better in higher humidity – a useful option for tropical reptiles, amphibians and bioactive-style setups.
  • Hardy and resilient – a strong livefood choice where reliability matters.
  • Encourages natural hunting behaviour – their movement helps stimulate a natural feeding response.
  • Great staple feeder – ideal as part of a varied, well gut-loaded livefood diet.

Available Sizes

Black crickets are available in a range of sizes to suit different reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. Regular Tub options are available across the range, with bulk bags available in selected sizes. Please check the product options above for the current pack sizes available.

Please note: quantities are approximate and apply to Regular Tub packs. Livefood counts may vary slightly due to natural size variation, movement and packing tolerances.

  • Micro – 1–3mm, approx. 500 per Regular Tub
  • Small – 4–5mm, approx. 250 per Regular Tub
  • Medium / Small – 5–8mm, approx. 150 per Regular Tub
  • Medium – 7–12mm, approx. 100 per Regular Tub
  • Standard / Large – 12–20mm, approx. 50 per Regular Tub
  • Extra Large – 20–30mm, approx. 25 per Regular Tub

Feeding & Care Tips

  • Gut load before feeding to improve nutritional value.
  • Keep in a well-ventilated container with egg crate or similar surface area.
  • Provide suitable dry food, fresh vegetable matter or cricket food.
  • Use hydration gel or fresh moisture sources carefully to avoid drowning.
  • Avoid overheating, excessive dampness or prolonged exposure to very cold conditions.

Black Field Crickets are a reliable choice for reptile keepers looking for a hardy, active and nutritious feeder insect, particularly during colder months or for animals kept in more humid environments.
