Personally I prefer the look of this to the likes of orchid bark, adds a lovely feel to the vivarium, great addition to bio-active substrate mixes, helps retain humidity and just generally can't fault it. Worst part about it is availability I find and that it only comes in a few bag sizes. I added this to my boa's enclosure, sprinkled on top with some crushed lead litter and it's a beautiful look
