For the past twenty years, HabiStat have been producing carbon impregnated cloth Heat Mats and Strips in the U.K.
Choose from one of the three models and many sizes available: Classic Mats or Strips, Adhesive or High Power Adhesive.
Thin and flat, HabiStat Heat Mats can be mounted unseen into almost any set up.
HabiStat Heat Mats produce ultra long wavelength infra red heat. This wavelength is invisible to the human eye and tends to furnishings in the cage rather than the air. This action of heating is very similar to the sun and it has the ability to heat anything that it strikes but with the air temperature remaining much lower - reptiles absorb this at in a manner very similar to basking in a natural environment.
Heat mats do get warm but provide a very gentle warmth which the animal can sit under or on top of - used under normal conditions the mats cannot burn the animal. It should be noted that heat mats give a gentle background heat. If you are keeping animals that requires higher temperatures, then you may require additional supplemental heating.
Many diurnal or day active species of lizard require basking spots of rather high localised heat. Additional heat sources should then be provided for these species. Heat mats are excellent primary heaters for most applications requiring night time heat.
Great product, bought for my tarantula, as added heat for those cold days. Works perfectly. Only issue with this brand, it doesn’t have double sided sticky tape on the mat for mounting on the side of enclosures
This is a good product but please keep in mind it is small and only 7Watts which means it can only heat a small area. This works perfectly for my current set up for my hatchling Corn snake as it does not need extremely high temperatures. If you are looking to heat a big area to higher than around 30 degrees you might need a larger mat with a higher wattage.
It's a decent heat mat that I use on the side of my pacman frog enclosure. Heats a small enclosure up well to around 27-28C(82F) but will need to use in combination with another heat source once the frog is moving into the bigger enclosure.
Works well under plastic tub with dubia roaches. No issues so far.
This is a great little heat mat but it wasn’t getting hot enough on the ‘warm’ end, let alone the ‘cool’ end. I bought a higher watt mat and that worked perfectly, so this mat is great, just not what I needed. The highest it gets is around 29°C, so keep that in mind before you buy :)
