About Black Crickets

Black Field Crickets are an excellent are similar to our brown crickets.  They are a big healthy cricket species which travels well in the post as well as being able to withstand higher humidity so make a great choice for more humid enclosures.  

In cold weather the larger black crickets are by far the most capable of withstanding bad postal conditions so are well worth trying when it is cold.

Storage & Use

Crickets can be kept in plastic tubs but we always recommend they are both gutloaded and cared for well.  It is often easiest to keep crickets in a Lucky Kricket Keeper which allows fresh foods to be offered and also ease of transferring them from storage to your animals enclousures with minimal escapees.  Please see our livefood care guides for more comprehensive information about cricket care.
