As the ice and snow has improved in many parts of the country, we hoped temperatures will have returned to normal too. Sadly more cold weather is predicted and more importantly there are huge backlogs across all delivery networks and no guarantees are being offered as to the speed of any arrival.
Covering insects and Frozen food that has been caught up in the bad weather has already cost the industry £1000s and we regret that we can no longer offer a live arrival guarantee for livefood or a frozen guarantee for frozen goods
We understand the majority of customers are grateful that we continue to offer livefood services as they can't buy locally, so we will post all orders to our normal schedule but WE ADVISE STRONGLY THAT WE CAN NOT COVER ISSUES IF THEY ARISE.
We have assessed the situation as a whole and consider the posting of any insects to be HIGH RISK but understand many buyers wish to take the chance or feel the postal service is not as affected as our figures indicate.
We look forward to your continued custom throughout this difficult period and hope the cold weather improves such that we can reinstate our live arrival guarantees as soon as possible.
WHILST WE WOULD LOVE TO OFFER A DATE THIS WILL CHANGE IT MAY BE MORE REALISTIC TO ASSUME NO CHANGE WILL OCCUR THIS SIDE OF THE NEW YEAR.
LAST DATES FOR CHRISTMAS POST
Standard Delivery (all orders where express delivery isn't selected and paid for)
- The cut off time and date for these orders is 12noon on Monday 20th Decemeber but we do recommend ordering in advance of this date wherever possible especially as backlogs are affecting all mail and will continue to do so.
Express Delivery (where express delivery is selected and paid for)
- We always advise express delivery methods are used for any order in December as they are far more reliable (please choose these methods at checkout).
- We will despatch orders placed by 12noon on Wednesday 22rd December, but please be aware that backlogs do exist and some orders may be delayed. We advise ordering earlier then this and remind customers to check the guarantees for live food before placing an order close to Christmas.
Resuming normal service
- Orders received after the deadlines will be despatched when business returns to normal after the new year.
- Normal business resumes on Tuesday 4th January and orders will be packed in the order they are received (e.g. a postal order placed on 21st Jan will be packed before an order placed on 3rd Jan)
GENERAL DESPATCH INFORMATION
- At Internet Reptile we aim to keep all our delivery charges to a minimum and DO NOT profit on these prices.
- We aim to dispatch all live food that can be sent by Royal Mail the SAME DAY when you pay before 12noon. This applies Mon-Friday (as no deliveries are sent at the weekend). If you pay after 12noon we aim to send your order the following working day. (Please note Friday Dispatch is at own risk as weekend deliveries are unreliable.
- For all other items we are generally able to dispatch the same day in many cases and ensure all items are dispatched no longer then 2 working days after purchase. (Any item or items that are sent by courier are posted Monday to Thursday as per our courier collection days).
- Please review the item page for delivery options and costs. Express delivery is almost always available and highly recommended if you need an order urgently or wish to track it.
- If an item needs to go by courier for any reason (e.g. you select it, the total parcel weight is 2kg or more or any other reason) then surcharges will apply to the following postcode areas. We do not want to remove our services to buyers from these regions as many lightweight orders can be sent by Royal Mail, but please bear this in mind as we will have no option to do so if it causes issues with feedback or customer service.

Northern Ireland and offshore; BT, IM, TR21-25
- The maximum rate of delivery for all orders is only £5.95 (the same restrictions on postcode groups apply as above)
- Standard delivery is usually made within 1-4 postal days. Express is usually received within 1-2 working days.
- We cannot despatch any live food by courier on a Friday, so if your order contains alot of food or a mix of live and non live food it can only be sent Monday-Thursday
- Unexpected circumstances and peak times may affect the despatch and delivery of any orders. Please allow for this (e.g. adverse weather, bank holidays, postal strikes etc)
